Congreso is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. Its main reference is The National Congress, home of the Deputies and Senate Chamber, was built in 1906 (inaugurated that year, but its aesthetic details were not completed until 1946). This impressive building has a bronze dome of 20 meters (65 feet) diameter, was inspired by the Washington Capitol. Various statues embellish the Congress square, such as the Rodin Thinker and the Monument of the Two Congresses, which evokes the Tucumán Congress meeting of 1816 (the independence of Argentina was declared in this event).
We recommend: Congreso de la Nación, Biblioteca del Congreso de la Nación, Teatro Avenida and Palacio Barolo.
